Update on Sky's High School Golf

Aug 28th

I didn't write last Thursday about Sky's golf. He played at Southgate golf course, it was 108 degrees and Sky got heat stroke. After the 9th hole, he started to feel it. His stomach cramped and he wasn't sure if he could finish the round. The coaches were their pushing the fluids and giving him wet rags to cool his body down. He did well considering how he felt- He finished shooting a 76..

Sept 4th

Well, their was a change in the schedule and so, they played at Southgate again this week. Sky was feeling much better then last week. He had a couple of rough holes , birdied 17 and had a chance to get an eagle on 18, it landed on the cup but, didn't drop it. He finished at 74.. Steve Wade also on Pineview shot 68 and Mason VanOrdon shot a 71.. Because of the split this year with half of our kids going to Deseret Hills, it really hurt us. We lost most of our players and now we don't have that strong 4th player. It is really sad because these boys have worked really hard and have the chance to finish strong and take State for 4a but, because of that 4th player, we are just hoping that we will go to State. If Sky stays in the top 5 in the State , if his team doesn't go he will still be able to go and compete on a individual level... On Sept 3rd in the sports section in the Deseret News they wrote about all the high school golf teams this year..They wrote in their that Drew VanOrdon came back this year to join our team but, he didn't. He graduated last year and leaves on a mission in a month..
